Zeme Farms was founded on the principles of ethical dairy production and food processing. Over time, we came to understand that maintaining ethical standards in a commercial dairy setting was challenging if not impossible at all. Consequently, we made the conscientious decision to transition away from dairy and remain true to our ethical values by venturing into chemical-free preserved foods. Our motto, "farm fresh integrity," isn't just a slogan; it's our commitment.
As a husband and wife team, we both chose to defy convention. With his background in business and her expertise in mass communication, we left the urban hustle behind and relocated to a rural village, where we collaborate closely with local farmers. Our dedication to ethical farming practices and preserving the purity of our products continues to be at the core of Zeme Farms' mission.
"Zeme" is a profound term in the Latvian language, signifying "The Earth" as well as soil. This choice holds a special significance for us, as an Indo-Latvian couple, both hailing from urban backgrounds, who embarked on a transformative journey by choosing to forsake the hustle and bustle of city life in favor of the slower, albeit more challenging, rural existence.
“I do what I do because I like to do what I do.”
“Soil under my nails, sunburn, lizards, dogs and cows... I love it all!”

Forest-based grazing is a natural way of life and provides a balanced diet for cows. Cows raised by these communities graze freely in nearby forests during the day. Unlike commercial feedlots, where cows are often fed processed grains or fodder, forest-grazing cows consume a rich, diverse diet of grasses, herbs, and shrubs. This natural diet promotes their health and longevity enhances the nutritional value of their milk, which translates into superior dairy products like Ghee.
